Southern Shores is a wonderful place to live and work. The boundaries of the Southern Shores Constituency stretches from its southern boundary along the sea from Bonefish National Pond to Faith Avenue along Marshall Road to its northern boundary along Rocky Pine Road from Gladstone Road extending across Sunset Park to Sir Milo Butler Highway. It encompasses the communities of Marshall Road, Misty Gardens, Cow Pen Road, Carolina Estates, Royal Palm Gardens; Anna’s Close; Pratt’s Subdivision; Miller’s Heights; Flamingo Gardens; Penfold Court: Halls Close; Sea Wall Manor; Caribbean Close; Butler’s Way; Palm Breeze Drive; McKinney Avenue; and Sunset Park.
Southern Shores has extensive agriculture lands, some of which have developed into eco-touristic facilities promoting agriculture and Bahamian nature. Bonefish National Pond is a part of the western boundary of the constituency. This beautiful national park is managed by the Bahamas National Trust and represents a conservation effort to protect the rich bio-diversity on New Providence.
Southern Shores is also a part of Carmichael Road and “City 2000”, the fastest growing commercial and residential areas in New Providence. Since coming to office in 2012, major brands like Scotiabank; Wendy’s; Flying Dutchman and others have opened new businesses in Southern Shores. Caribbean Bottling Company’s main offices are in the Constituency and we are also home to BTC; Holiday Ice; Wong’s Home Centre and Peter Roker’s Bargain City. Garvin Tynes Primary School and Anatol Rodgers High School are high achieving public school which bring pride to the community of Southern Shores.
However, the people of Southern Shores is what makes it special. Our communities are made up of hard-working, community-minded, resilient, enterprising and friendly people. That’s what makes us Southern Shores Strong.
